Support the future of your regional conservatorium
Give your feedback to Dubbo Regional Council now to build a new Conservatorium on the Dubbo Bowling Club site! Please take the time to read this important message.
In December 2019, we asked you to give your feedback to Dubbo Regional Council on Dubbo’s Cultural Plan.
Thanks to your strong feedback, Macquarie Conservatorium was included in the final version of the Council’s Cultural Plan on pages 19, 20 and 28:

Now, we ask you to give Dubbo Regional Council your feedback on the use of their newly acquired site adjacent to the Western Plains Cultural Centre, the old Dubbo Bowling Club: read about this from page 66 in the Council’s recently released plan:

We think it would be ideal to include a new purpose-built facility for Macquarie Conservatorium as a major part of the plans for this site, placing our Conservatorium at the centre of Dubbo’s cultural precinct.
Hopefully you are aware that Macquarie Conservatorium needs to find new premises for the start of 2023. We realise it won’t be possible to have a new building ready to solve our immediate need for new premises in 2023, and we are firmly focused on finding a suitable building to move into by that date.
But it’s also important to pursue the longer-term option of a purpose-built facility to properly house our Conservatorium into the future.
The Dubbo Bowling Club site is the perfect location for Dubbo’s new Conservatorium.
The location is central and accessible for both students and audiences, and it places our Conservatorium at the heart of Dubbo’s cultural precinct.
The facilities required for our Conservatorium such as a small recital hall and large rehearsal rooms are multi-purpose assets that the Dubbo community at large could enjoy and use.
The Conservatorium could co-exist on this site as part of a development that also provides facilities for other cultural and community organisations.
Orange City Council is building a brand-new Conservatorium in their cultural precinct, close to their art gallery and theatre. This is Dubbo’s opportunity to position Macquarie Conservatorium as a key element in the development of the cultural precinct next to the Western Plains Cultural Centre.
While the Conservatorium is not included in the Council’s current draft plan of management for this site, your feedback can change this.
We ask you to urge Dubbo Regional Council to include a new building for the Conservatorium as a major part of the development of the Dubbo Bowling Club site.
Click on this link, read about the plan and submit your feedback in the survey here:

Submissions close on 16 October. Please make your voice heard and help find a new home for your regional conservatorium.
It would also be helpful for us to know what feedback our members are giving on this, so feel free to also forward your feedback and any other ideas on this matter to the Conservatorium: info@macqcon.org.au
