Early Childhood Music
Our early childhood music classes give children a positive first experience of music in a fun, relaxed and stimulating environment.
The classes focus on engaging children 3-7 years in music through song, movement & rhythm games, and developing your child’s learning, listening and social skills through music
Music is very important for young children, contributing strongly to social, emotional, cognitive and language development, and the development of fine motor skills and co-ordination.
There are two stages to Macquarie Conservatorium’s Early Childhood Music Program:
MusicPlay for pre-schoolers, in classes for ages 3-5yrs. Parents or carers attend and participate in these classes with their child. An important feature of these classes is the social interaction with children of similar age through music activities.
MusicMakers for school-age children 5-7yrs. Students in this class must be attending school or home-schooled. In this class, children develop an early understanding of music concepts that will benefit them when they start to learn a musical instrument.
Class size is 4-10 in a group. All classes are 45 minutes.
Led by our specialist teachers, children will:
learn songs
play percussion instruments
take part in rhyming, action and movement games
listen and respond to music creatively.
Through a range of activities, children explore the elements of music:
beat
rhythm
pitch
tone-colour
dynamics
