Instrumental and vocal
Macquarie Conservatorium offers tuition for children, youth and adults in a variety of instruments and voice.
In our individual and group tuition programs, students develop a sound technique on the instrument of their choice, enabling them to play and enjoy music in a variety of styles.
Macquarie Conservatorium instrumental and vocal tutors are professionally-trained musicians, experienced in teaching students of all ages with different levels of ability from beginner to advanced. Meet our teaching staff.
Individual tuition is available in all of these areas in 30 minute, 45 minute or 60 minute weekly lessons.
Group tuition
Group tuition is available in some areas. Group tuition classes are a great way to learn an instrument: playing together with others makes your music lesson more enjoyable, and it’s more affordable.
A schedule of beginner group classes for various age groups, youth and adult is available on our Enrolment page.
Elementary and more advanced group classes can be scheduled if there is interest, so please put in an enrolment inquiry form if you are a continuing student or player beyond the beginner level who would prefer tuition in a group class.

Our schools program
Group and individual instrumental tuition is offered onsite at a number of schools in Dubbo and the surrounding region.

Virtual tuition
In addition to face-to-face lessons, tuition online via zoom or video conference is possible, providing access to music education for students in remote areas. Access to teachers of instruments, levels or styles not available in Dubbo is also an option through video conferencing with other regional conservatoriums.
Events and groups
Instrumental and vocal students can perform at Macquarie Conservatorium concerts and may also enrol to participate in Conservatorium workshops, masterclasses and special events held throughout the year. In consultation with their teacher, students can be prepared for AMEB and other examinations. Many students play in school or community bands and ensembles, and sing in choirs.
We also have Conservatorium ensembles and other group activities you may be interested in. Find out more about music theatre and ensembles.
