Bella Fox is an alumnus of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she obtained a Bachelor of Music degree, specializing in saxophone performance under the guidance of Dr. Michael Duke. Throughout her studies, she developed a keen interest in woodwind and jazz pedagogy, gender equality in music, music theory, and aural skills. Bella also gained considerable performance experience with esteemed ensembles, including the SCM Wind Symphony, Saxophone Orchestra, Big Band, and various chamber and jazz groups.
During her time in Sydney, Bella earned several prestigious accolades, such as performing as a concerto soloist with the SCM Clarinet Ensemble and being chosen as a masterclass performer by renowned Dutch saxophonist Arno Bornkamp. She was the recipient of the Henderson Travellers’ scholarship, which facilitated her travels to Europe for valuable collaborations with celebrated saxophonists like Claude Delangle, Vincent David, and Christian Wirth.
Originally from Orange, Bella began her musical journey at the age of five with violin lessons and quickly expanded her skills by mastering multiple instruments during her schooling years. At just 15, she launched her professional music career as a violist with the Orange Symphony Orchestra and the Macquarie Philharmonic Orchestra. Additionally, she demonstrated her versatility as a reed player with the Orange Theatre Company and various bands and ensembles throughout the Central West region.
Beyond her performance career, Bella has dedicated over ten years to teaching woodwind and string instruments, as well as conducting, in Sydney and the Central West. Her teaching philosophy focuses on nurturing students of all ages and abilities, instilling a love for music and excellence in performance.
Bella joined the teaching staff of Macquarie Conservatorium in 2024.
