POSTPONED Due to illness
Lecture-demonstration by pianist TAMARA-ANNA CISLOWSKA and film music expert DAN GOLDING on composition for film and screen.

Unfortunately one of the artists has tested positive for COVID-19, so this event cannot go ahead this Friday. We do apologise for this inconvenience.

We hope to reschedule this event as soon as possible and are currently looking at new dates.

A special opportunity for secondary school music students to explore the topic of composition for film and other digital media with 2 experts (focusing on the music of Joe Hisaishi for the animated films of Studio Ghibli) plus a chance to practice performing in front of a panel of Conservatorium teachers.

Tamara-Anna Cislowska is one of Australia’s most acclaimed pianists, performing and recording in Australia and internationally to critical and public acclaim. She is the presenter of the very popular ABC Classic FM program, Duets. She has recorded seven ARIA no.1 albums, most recently One Summer’s Day: Studio Ghibli favourites for solo piano by Joe Hisaishi (ABC Classics).

Dan Golding is the host of Screen Sounds on ABC Classic FM, an award-winning composer and writer, and a Senior Lecturer in Media and Communication at Swinburne University. He created the soundtrack for the BAFTA, DICE, and GDCA winning Untitled Goose Game (2019), the first ever game soundtrack to be nominated for an ARIA award.

Performance class: this will follow the film music lecture demonstration. An opportunity for HSC music students to practise performing in front of a panel of expert Macquarie Conservatorium teachers. Students will receive constructive feedback on their performance, including strategies for coping with performance anxiety, as well as advice on stylistic interpretation and instrumental technique.

Presented in association with Musica Viva Australia and supported by the NSW Government through Create NSW and the Australian Government through the Australia Council for the Arts.
