Enjoy a FREE concert by two outstanding ensembles of tertiary music students from Sydney Conservatorium.
The Jazz Orchestra has produced an alumni of leading lights in Australian Jazz since its beginnings in the 70’s. With 5 saxophones, 4 trombones, 4 trumpets, guitar, piano, bass and drums, the Jazz Orchestra features many of Sydney’s finest young improvisers and is directed by big band expert, David Theak, lecturer and leader of the Jazz Program at Sydney Conservatorium.
The Saxophone Orchestra features some of the nation’s top student saxophonists, drawing its members from across Sydney Conservatorium's jazz, classical and music education degrees. Playing a wide-ranging repertoire, the Saxophone Orchestra is directed by renowned classical saxophonist, Dr Michael Duke, Associate Professor of Saxophone at Sydney Conservatorium.
Also performing at this concert is Macquarie Conservatorium’s own Big Band led by brass teacher and trumpeter Malcolm Liddell.
